The Playground
What is it?
The Playground is a space for emerging theatremakers to come together and experiment. It runs in 7-week terms, each including a session with a visiting practitioner.
For the rest of the term we work in groups, each led by a director working on any project they would like. We have had people come to workshop scripts they've written, R&D a concept they're playing with and even just come to work on a bit of script they've always wanted to play with.
At the end of each term we leave it to the directors to decide whether they'd like to show their work to the group or not- this way there's never any pressure on anyone to have to get to a certain point with their work- at the end of the day the playground is just that- a place to play!
Who is it for?
The Playground is for everyone! We do not require that you have any training, just that you are passionate about theatre and you're willing to commit to all 7 sessions of the term. Other than that, we welcome everyone who would like to join us and have a good old play!
If you're a director with an idea you want to experiment with, or a piece of script you'd like to workshop, we would love to have you. If you've never directed before but you want to give it a crack with a play you've always loved, we would love to have you.
As for actors, we want anyone who is friendly, open minded and fancies getting back into the rehearsal room after filming interminable self-tapes. Your acting chops are a muscle like any other, and this is the place to get your exercise.

Tuesday Evenings, 7-10pm, Camberwell
26th March- 7th May 2024, £75 for Actors/£100 for Directors
